Walking in Wiltshire

Purton Walking Group

We walk twice a month with walks, each of around 5 miles, being organised by our members. We currently have around 40 members who take their turn in organising and leading the walks, some of which are local and some we drive to the start.

The walk leader decides and pre-walks the route then emails everyone about a week beforehand with details including stiles, the conditions underfoot (mud, etc) and the distance. The leader also decides the start time, which is normally around 9.30am-10am.

All our communications are by email and members of the group share their contact information - home address, landline and mobile numbers. Emails are not sent bcc.

In addition, all our members live in Purton and we do expect our members to volunteer to lead walks, the group wouldn't work otherwise.
